Have you been downtown lately? If you have, then surely your heart must be warmed by the “season’s greetings” the city of Johnson City is sending to you and yours.
So, too, must your brain have been sent into a mad scramble to make sure your calendar had the right month printed on it. Because, apparently, the calendar Johnson City has is faulty.
At press time Wednesday night, Jan. 24, one month after all good city citizens were snuggled safe and warm in their beds on Christmas eve, Yuletide decorations still adorned the lamp posts.
Certainly, this is not to imply that seasonal cheer is a bad thing. That Christians might behave they way they do at Christmas the rest of the year would be a blessing.
But does Johnson City really want to stick out like Uncle Ned who never takes the plastic reindeer off his front lawn?
Sure, Christmas decorations are minor details. Still, it’s often the minutiae that counts. The ghost of Christmas past may haunt you.
