The cafeteria was not so common during common hour on September 29th. There was dubbin’. There was whining. There were people playing the wall with a bottle (of milk). You even saw people ‘standin’ on couches.” Or better yet, lunch tables. Not literally, but it did have somewhat of a club atmosphere in the cafe.
Who’s to blame for Old Westbury students having a good time? DJ Chris Cash.
A Queens native, he started dj’ing a couple of years ago after watching his friend “The Dope Man” DJ Ernie B practicing at his house.
“One day I started messing around with the turntables and I really liked it,” Cash said. He djayed at a basement party three weeks later and “killed it.” It was after that he knew that dj’ing was what he wanted to do.
Cash has not been dj’ing long, but he came into the DJ game “putting up numbers.” Cash is part of the event planning and promotional group for Diff’rent World Entertainment. With the group’s success, Cash saw the opportunity to get into other fields; not only to promote his teams different ventures, but his own as well.
Cash also has a clothing line called “Everything Diff’rent,” that he says is doing very well right now. He has also worked on a few video projects and plans on making videography his next venture.
He has a few events coming up at Fairfield University, Hofstra, York and Adelphi; but he cannot wait to come back to Old Westbury to do another set. “I felt like the vibe in the cafe was crazy,” he says. “Everybody that was there seemed like they had fun and that was the main objective,” he continued. As we wait for DJ Chris Cash to come back next time to do a set, we can view YouTube clips of the madness and fun.
