About The Catalyst
The Catalyst, the student newspaper of SUNY College at Old Westbury has a print circulation of about 1000. The newspaper was launched soon after the college was established, in 1965.
Some of the awards that the Catalyst has championed include:
● The American Scholastic Press Association Award in Spring 2002
● A Certificate of Participation from the Newsday School Journalism Competition
● Recognition of Outstanding Service and Dedication to the Student Body for 2001-2002, from the SUNY College at Old Westbury Student Government Association
● A Student Leadership Award for Outstanding School Spirit, awarded during the SUNY College at Old Westbury 9th Annual Student Recognition Awards in May 2003
The Catalyst is advised by Professor Friedman. Catalyst staff meets upstairs in the Student Union Room 331 every Tuesday during common hour, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M.
