Jets: Kings of New York

Everyone wants to be the “king.” The only way to truly be the “king” is to just simply live like one. Jets coach Rex Ryan has come into New York and boastfully claimed the throne for himself and his team. Yes! Footballs back! And in the Jets “kingdom,” everyone is still sticking to the same blueprint expecting the same outcome.

Ryan likes to “pound the ground” with the running game, give opposing  quarterbacks  trouble with their crafty defensive schemes and talk about how great his team is at all the press conferences. It is Super Bowl championship or nothing to the Jets. An aim Ryan has targeted since he became the Jets coach in 2009. That is a tall order for a team who for a long time, was  not the best in their division (or even their city). However, behind young quarterback Mark Sanchez, and young cornerback Darrelle Revis, the Jets were shy just one game of the Super Bowl in each of Ryan’s’ first two seasons.

This year’s group of Jets are as confident as their coach. Mark Sanchez has more reliable targets this year. A wide receiver core that calls themselves the “flight boys” or the “fly boys”: 2nd year Jet Santonio Holmes, ex Giant Plaxico Burress (released from prison before season) and veteran Derrick Mason who left the Baltimore Ravens to sign with the Jets this summer.  The talented Jets receivers will not let egos get in the way.

Ryan has been the ultimate trash talker and will not stop now. He only speaks highly of his team and believes they can be “pretty special.”

He does not want anyone to ever put his team second to any other team (especially to the other New York team). Catch him wearing his new favorite sweatshirt on the sidelines this year which reads “Titans of New York.” December 24th. New York Jets taking on the New York Giants. Can’t wait.
