JAMAICA, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The SUNY College at Old Westbury women’s volleyball team earned a 25-14, 25-13, 25-19 straight set sweeping road victory against the York Cardinals on Wednesday evening from the York College Gym. Old Westbury improves to 6-10 on the season with its third straight win as York moved to 3-13.
Kimberly Catania produced her team-leading 10th double-double of the season, combining match-highs 18 assists and 15 digs. Old Westbury registered match-high from Allie Giancola and Jennifer Jean, with five aces and seven kills, respectively, to lead the Panthers’ offense. Jocelyn Small tallied six kills while Catania and Rayn Brown both added five. Giancola registered 10 digs followed by Samantha Howley‘s nine. York’s Pamela Yap scooped up a match-high 19 digs. Old Westbury served up 11 aces as York had three.
Old Westbury hit .065 with 27 kills in 92 attempts, compared to York’s -.092 hitting percentage on 14 kills in 87 swings.
SUNYIT WILDCATS CLASSIC UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court for a non-conference road trip at the SUNYIT Wildcat Classic (Sept. 29-30) in Utica, New York. Old Westbury opens with Cazanovia (6 p.m.) and SUNYIT (8 p.m.) on Friday, while closing out against Wells (11 a.m.) and Rochester Institute of Technology (1 p.m.) on Saturday from the Wildcat Field House.
