There is music pumping in the atrium, fresh food, and madness everywhere! Yes, it was here and gone; SUNY Old Westbury’s Annual Fall Panther Pride. Panther Pride is a great time for students and faculty to join in and celebrate their school spirit.
This year there was t-shirt decorating, robot games, a hot-dog eating contest, and a hula-hooping contest. Students expressed their creativity by decorating their own t-shirts. Students gave it their all when it was time for the competitions. The crowd went wild during the hot-dog eating contest as the participants got eliminated one by one until there was one man left eating.”The key was just dipping the dogs, just take your time. Take your easy bites, having two stomachs, mind over matter,” the winner commented.
The Hula-hooping competition contest kept the crowd guessing until there was one left standing. “I used to do it competitively I never lost a hula-hooping contest before,” expressed Chantal Francise, the winner of the hula-hooping contest.
The rest of Panther Pride week had a fun carnival, a hilarious comedy show, a fantastic talent show, and several intense sporting events. And of course Midnight Madness is the ultimate expression of school spirit. “I love midnight madness, school spirit, school colors and things like that,” commented, Melanie Goncalez, captain of the OW cheer leaders.
The excitement, the loud music, the games, the performances, and the peppy cheerleaders all gave Midnight Madness the true passion of Panther Pride. Panther Pride is fun for every one and will live on forever at SUNY Old Westbury. So make sure you get on your green and white and roar for next year’s Panther Pride!
