Organic chemistry with an attitude.
In order to be successful in his course, you need to take initiative. He is willing to spend all day doing chem problems, to make sure you understand the material. He comes off rude, but he just wants his students to actually WORK, not just get by like in other courses
Beware!!! Pros- An average lecture. Cons- terrible lab prof., labs are physically unsafe and he is unwilling to help you in any way, gives most A students C's which is why most people drop his class. My advice is if you need Organic Chemistry take it at Nassau or Farmingdale.
Class averages were always in the C range, but his exams were straight forward if you could solve the textbook problems. You do need to teach yourself the reactions. Lots of summer kids ditched his review sessions, but he was -generous- to those who came. He knows his things. Don't take this class if you're weak in chem--his exam grades are final.
i had taken orgo before, got a C+, westbury insisted I take it again. I have yet to pass. Lab espescially, I have yet to discover what makes an acceptable lab report. I actually took another students that had an A put my name on it and handed it in and got an D. You try to ask him, and "it in the syllabyus". He's sarcastic, I can't dislike that |
